21 months

This is going to be a catch-up post. Luke is now 21 months and he is soo much fun. Some things about Luke:

-We must say the blessing before we eat. Most meals we have to hold hands and say it more than once. After we say 'amen' he throws his hands up like a referee calling a touchdown
-He has started dancing again and is a dancing fool. Every time he hears a beat he starts doing what we call the one-armed chicken dance.
-He is a fan of Jake and the Neverland Pirates. We have finally found a show that he will sit still and watch.
-Hitting a baseball off the tee seems to be his favorite game to play.
-He still calls me 'da-da' and Derek 'daddy'.
-Pointing to my very pregnant belly. I don't think he understands that there is a baby in there but he definitely notices.

Other things:

Silliness with daddy

Helping daddy move his classroom

First haircut

Rides at the mall with Grana and Papa

Falling asleep in the nursery at church

Ready for a bike ride

Thirsty at the beach!

carousel at Pier Park

Airplane ride at Pier Park

Splash pad in Gardendale

Eating cupcakes

Training to be a triathlete

Mother's Day Out

Luke's first day, he went straight for the ball!

Luke started Mother's Day Out at our church last Thursday.  He will go two mornings a week.  He loves to play with other kids and has been so excited both times that I have dropped him off.  He has never been one to cry when we drop him off and usually he is quick to say "bye" when we do.  I guess he is confident that we will come back and get him.  He is in the 2 year old class so he is the youngest one.  I am hoping it will help improve his vocabulary and communication.

Summer officially ended for us today as Derek went back to work.  We had an awesome, busy summer and will miss having daddy around.  I have so many things to catch up on and hope to use some of this MDO free time to catch up on blog postings!

20 Months

The most memorable thing for this month seems to be that Luke has really started talking more. He's always babbled but we are starting to really understand what he is saying. I really don't think there could be a more silly little boy. He loves to make us laugh. He still loves to be outside and in the water and still won't sit still to watch television. He has really enjoyed having his daddy home for the summer and it will be somewhat tragic for little Luke when he has to go back to school. He gets so tickled by the word "stinky." He thinks it's hilarious if either his feet or diaper are stinky...what a boy! He is into EVERYTHING and destroys our house on a daily basis. He loves his bedtime Bible story time with his daddy. He also enjoys for me to rock and sing to him before bed...this is my absolute joy!  He is a dancing fool and talks with his hands.

We also got rid of the paci this month!!! It was a very easy transition since he wasn't too attached.

He thinks he is too big for the highchair and sippy cup

Daddy brought him a soccer jersey home from Mexico

He loves to wash his hands and brush his teeth

4th of July

Derek's parents moved to Talladega in June for a new pastoral appointment.  We drove up there for the weekend and had a great time relaxing with family.  Luke had a few firsts over the weekend that included swimming in a (cold) creek, skinny dipping in the inflatable pool and eating homemade ice cream.

Brr!

On the way home Luke had his leg propped up just chillin

Houston Trip

Derek left from the beach for a mission trip to Morelia, Mexico.  I'll let him write a blog post about that later.  Luke and I followed my sister and her family from the beach to Houston.  We spent the week in Houston while Derek was in Mexico.  My sister had to go back to work so Luke and I spent most of the week with my mom, Jackson and Julia.  Luke loves his cousin.

Loaded up and headed to Houston

Breakfast at my Mom's house

My sweet Aunt Linda and cousin Robin gave us a baby shower for the new little guy.  Everything was just perfect.

It was so wonderful spending two weeks with my sister (and best friend) and a week with my Mom.

Grayton Beach

We started our summer off with a week long beach vacation. It was so fun! Beautiful weather, good time with family and a little boy who LOVED the water. We went with my Dad, step mom, step sister and family and my sister and family. Luke has always loved having big kids around and this was no different. I was really surprised by how independent he was in the swimming pool. He didn't want to be held and enjoyed jumping in to his daddy from the side. He also enjoyed playing in the sand and ocean.

The kids bunk room was a dream for our little monkey

Our bathroom had this tub and Luke loved it.

19 Months

Note: I am playing catch-up on the blog and realized I failed to write a 19 month post.  June was so busy for us and I hardly remember him a month ago (sad, I know).  Therefore, this will just be a picture post.
