Texas Fun

Phew, we have had the craziest month. We left Troy June 24th for a quick trip to San Antonio, TX with my family. We had a great time walking the Riverwalk, visiting Sea World and  Alamo and eating some awesome Mexican food.

We left there for Houston while Derek spent a week in Morelia, Mexico on a mission trip. The boys had a blast with their cousins and Unyun (aka my mom, and yes, this is what happens when you let the first grandchild pick your name).

We left Houston on July 7th for Troy and then we were off again two days later..

8 Months

At 8 months old Alex is all over the place and into everything. Just yesterday I found him in the corner of his room after a lamp cord that I had created a barrier of pillows around. He somehow crawled over and through pillows to get back there. He was so proud of himself. He is desperately trying to get up on all fours but after a few tries he falls and does his army crawl. He's talking up a storm and eating a ton of baby food. He still isn't very interested in formula. He is taking two good naps a day. He has spent the last few weeks waking at night to eat. 3 days ago I decided I was just going to start feeding him at his "meals" until he stopped eating. He's been eating so much baby food. Like a vegetable, fruit and cereal at each sitting. It may be coincidental but since we started that he's slept from 7-7 each night...poor baby has been starving! I kept thinking if he was hungry he'd take more formula (like Luke at this age) but he wanted more food. He still loves Luke and thinks he's the funniest and coolest big brother.

Two dirty little boys

A few weeks ago the boys and I spent the morning at my friend Whitney's house.  They have the most amazing back yard for little boys to play in.  There is mud, sand piles, water, and toys galore.  I am pretty sure it was one of Luke's most favorite days.  By lunch time both boys were stripped down naked, soaking wet and covered in mud.  William is the baby I kept last spring and today he is the most precious little 16 month old and reminds me so much of Luke at that age.  Like Luke, he is all boy and fearless to his core. Lots of giggles and sweet memories were made.

Also, if you are reading this, would you mind joining me in prayer for Whitney and her husband Bryant?  They are going through an incredibly difficult time in the pregnancy of their little girl, Henley.  You can read about it here but I must warn you, get a box of Kleenex.  They are a beautiful testimony of faith and have already brought our heavenly Father so much glory through Henley's diagnosis.  I'm in absolute awe of how their actions and words genuinely praise Him in their suffering.

Alex's Baby Dedication

On March 25th we had Alex's baby dedication.  What a precious time for us to commit our sweet baby boy to the Lord.  Our deepest desire in life is to raise boys who love the Lord and his people.  We are hopeful, that by God's grace, we submit our boys to His authority every single day and live before them a life that radiates Christ's love.  We are thankful for a church family and pastor to help keep us accountable and to teach our children the truth of the gospel and God's word.  Alex did great despite the fact that it was nap time.

Blessed is he who has believed that what the Lord has said to him will be accomplished! Luke 1:45
